Empirical Studies of Online Help

A well designed online help system should bring relevant information to users when they need it and guide them through the interface just as a human teacher would. It helps users with a problem as efficiently as possible without requiring the users to study a topic in depth. Guidelines and recommendations about how to design such a good online help system will be provided in this paper (2000-12-10)
